The best way to survive the zombie apocalypse

Digital animators took steps to alter the scenery in downtown Atlanta without distracting from 'The Walking Dead' storyline.

The unofficial zombie apocalypse returns this Sunday with the season 6 premiere of "The Walking Dead."

Christopher Ingraham from the Washington Post is ready for the show's return and a potential zombie invasion, which is why he created a definitive guide for how gauge your area's "survivability" for when zombies strike.

An ideal setting for suvival has the following features: low population density, guns, military forces or experience, terrain difficult for zombies to navigate and bodies of water.

Appropriately enough, areas in the south (and Atlanta, where the show is filmed) have a low to very low risk of zombie survival whereas areas in the north and especially the west all have high zombie survivability factors.

Luckily the zombie apocalypse isn't actually real, but that makes it especially fun to discuss the "what if" and how to be prepared.
